Back pain also occurs when the muscles get stiff because of poor posture. Back exercise stretches the stiff muscles to provide relief.
Back Exercise Stretches – For Back Pain Relief
Back exercise stretches need to be performed softly. You should treat your back gently and not subject it jerky and violent movement. The exercise routine that you follow should start gently, and gradually build over a period of a few weeks. You could cause more harm than good, if you do not follow expert advice in matters of back exercise.
Warm up your body before you embark on the stretching routine. Exercise stretches the muscles, ligaments and tendons in the area surrounding the back. I am having lower back pain for about a week now. The pain is concentrated near the right side of my lower back. It pains when I try to bend down. My brother has had lower back pain for several years. Following a fall on the ice this winter, it got really bad and he went for an MRI which disclosed degenerative disc disease and a condition called stenosis. The doc referred him to the pain clinic at our local hospital and he’s having a consultation with the doc there next week. This pain doc is strongly recommending epidural steroid shots, but from what I’ve read, they only work about 50% of the time. Also, I’ve read that there can be long-lasting side effects to these steroid shots. Some people have even said they would never take them. Anyone ever have these shots? Can you suggest some questions to ask the doctor about them and any other pain management options? Thanks!
Do the epidural steroid injections hinder your ability to walk at all? I had an epidural during childbirth and I couldn’t feel anything from waist down for hours!

For starters, I am 26 yrs old, have 3 children, in good health-although overweight, am on the birth control pill, and in a great relationship, but I have a sexual issue as of late.
Whenever my husband and I have sex, I end up having sharp pains in my cervix with every thrust. Over the past few months my period has been getting lighter and lighter; only spotted for 3-4 days last time. I have lower back pain practically every day when I get out of bed and quite often at night when I am crawling into bed. I have taken several pregnancy tests and all have came up with negative results.

If you’re like me, you know first-hand how painful sciatica can be to deal with. This is what actually start me on my own search for a cure for sciatica. Maybe you’ve used one of those hot pads to ease the pain a bit, only to notice that the pain just comes back as soon as you stop using the pad. But guess what? Sciatica, in case you don’t already know, is an either stabbing or dull pain that can shoot from your hips and butt all the way down to your toes and feet or anywhere in between. Sciatica is caused when your sciatic nerve is pinched by one of a few different causes that all place pressure on the nerve.
After I discovered this, I started to realize that in order to fix sciatica for good, you need to deal with the underlying cause of the pinched nerve and not just mask it with painkillers or other ineffective forms of treatment. The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body. branches out from the lower back and it runs down your hips, buttocks, legs, knees, and as far down as your feet and toes. So, you can experience sciatica pain anywhere from your lower back all the way to your feet.
Let’s take a look now at a few common causes of sciatica:
Not lifting heavy object in an appropriate way can cause nerve damage, which in turn can result in sciatica.
As we naturally age, our discs in our back may begin to degenerate with the space between them becoming smaller or even resulting in a herniated disc.
Also, your Piriformis muscle may become too tight and irritate the sciatic nerve. Your Piriformis is a small muscle that connects your hips to your legs, and it rests right on top of the sciatic nerve.
After learning exactly where your sciatic nerve is located and a few of the common causes of sciatica, you can deal with the problem better and you’ve got a better chance of really fixing it. Sciatica is by no means something to enjoy, but when you start to understand why it is happening, you’ll be better equipped to wiping it out quickly and easily on your own.

Sciatica, or sciatic nerve pain, is actually more like a symptom than a condition. The sciatic nerve can be pinched by numerous different mechanisms at several different locations culminating in a pinched sciatic nerve. The likely pain pattern for a pinched sciatic nerve would include pain down the posterior leg, either the thigh, or the calf, or both, and oftentimes into the foot.
Arthritic changes in the low back are a common cause of sciatic pain and can include degeneration of the lumbar vertebra, the disc that cushions the vertebra, the joints between the vertebra, and changes like bone spurs and bulging discs. The final result of the aforementioned is the decrease in space available for the spinal cord and nerve roots to run their course unimpeded . Oftentimes , a disc protrusion can put pressure on the nerve roots inside the spinal canal or where they leave the spine and result in sciatic pain (or what is called a radiculopathy). There is a similar condition known as pseudosciatica where irritation of the lumbar facet joints causes lumbosacral pain and pain in the back of the thighs .
Several non-invasive treatments exist and are effective. Chiropractic therapy , massage therapy, and certain exercises can offer some relief from low back problems and sciatic nerve pain. Home therapy devices known as transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation machines can give some pain relief options as well. One of the most effective treatment options is inversion therapy or decompression therapy. Not being in a medical trade, my main memory is a mannequin of a human skeleton from the National Smithsonian Museum Gift Shop that my dad sent me to display for October 31. Framed in the entrance hall, a shiny spine hangs in a black background, alone like a undulating ocean organism .
Until I developed a situation of back pain, I completely took my spine for granted.
